Bobcats Sign Powerful Trio

Montana State Track and Field announced the signing of three student-athletes to National Letters of Intent to continue their academic and athletic careers at MSU beginning this fall.

Chantel Jaeger comes to Bozeman from Yakima, Wash., where she is a 2011 graduate of West Valley High School. Jaeger will leave West Valley as a highly decorated sprinter, as she finished third in the 200 and sixth in the 100 at 2010 at the Washington State 4A Championships. She was also a part of the Rams' 4x400 Relay teams which won the state title and set a new state record. Jaeger ran an impressive 55.00 split.

Jaeger will come to MSU with four letters each in cross country, basketball and track and field. She also earned two letters in band. She plans on majoring in music.

“Chantel will be a tremendous addition to our young sprinters,” said head coach Dale Kennedy. “She will add great depth to sprint and hurdler corps.”

Brooklyn Rodgers, a standout from Lewistown, Mont,. is a 2011 graduate of Fergus High School. She was a three-time Montana Class A State Champion in cross country (2008, 2009, 2010) for the Golden Eagles.

At the 2010 state track and field championships, Rodgers finished third in both the 1,600 and 3,200. She will come to MSU with four letters apiece in cross country, basketball and track and field. The distance runner, heading into her final season at Fergus, is coached by former Montana State distance runner Susie Flentie

Rodgers plans on majoring in health and human development.

“It's always nice to have alumni sending us kids,” said Kennedy. “And she's sending us a student-athlete will who step right up in both our cross country and track line-ups and add depth.”

Kristi Vandebergh comes from Forest Grove, Ore. where she is a 3.98 student at Forest Grove High School. She is primarily a throw and her best mark in the Shot Put is 40-01.00.

Vandebergh also participated in volleyball basketball and band. She will graduate this spring with 15 total letters. She plans to major in wildlife biology at Montana State.

“Kristi has a lot of athletic talent,” said assistant coach Mike Carignan. “She has the ability to step on to this program and make a big impact.”
