Bobcats to Compete at USA Track and Field Championships

Casey and Polson extend season to compete among nation's elite

Five first place finishes, two Big Sky titles, and a second NCAA All-American recognition, clearly aren't enough for Patrick Casey. He continues 2011 on his quest to separate himself even further from the pack, on a trek to be the best.

Casey is among the elite who will compete at the USA Track and Field Championships in Eugene, Ore. June 23-26. He is slated to compete in the third heat of the 1,500 on Thursday, June 23 beginning at 7:30 p.m. Should he fall within the top-12 and the next three fastest times, he will compete again, in the finals on Saturday, June 25 at approximately 3:50 p.m.

Most recently, Casey finished eighth in the 1,500 at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships on June 11. He set a new MSU program record in the 1,500 with a time of 3:41.34 earlier in the outdoor season.

The USA Track and Field Junior Championships will also taking place simultaneously at Hayward Field. Montana State will also be represented by Trevor Polson who will compete in the 3,000 steeplechase. The junior championship steeplechase is slated for a 6:00 p.m. start on Saturday, June 25.
