Bobcat Track and Field Signs Two More

The Montana State Track and Field program announced the signing of two more student-athletes to National Letters of Intent on Tuesday. The women's track and field team will add Iris Hardarson and Anna Pershouse to the roster beginning the fall of 2011.

Hardarson comes to Bozeman from Littleton, Colo., where she is a 2011 graduate of Littleton High School.

Most recently, she finished fifth at the Colorado High School 5A State Championships in the 400-meter dash with a time of 56.72. She was also a member of the 4x400 relay team which took the state title. The Lions' time of 3:45.69 marked a new state record by over three seconds. Hardarson clocked with a split of 55.84.  Overall, the Lions finished third in the state and were edged out of second by just one point.

“Iris will be a great addition to our sprint and hurdles group,” said head coach Dale Kennedy. “We are very excited to have her sign with MSU as she will add a tremendous amount of depth to our sprinters.”

She plans on majoring in pre-medicine.

In addition to the sprints, the Bobcat throws corps also picked up a signee. Anna Perhouse comes to MSU from Missoula Sentinel High School where she was a two sport athlete.

At the 2011 Montana AA Track and Field Championships, she finished first in the discus with a distance of 126-03.00. She also played volleyball and earned two letters for the Spartans.

Of the track and the court, she was an active member in the band where she earned all-state honors and received the Fred Nelson Music Award.

“Anna has the character and attitude that we want on our team,” said assistant coach Mike Carignan.  “She will work hard, and give the hammer a try.”

Bobcat Track and Field just closed out its 2011 campaign after the MSU men took third at the Big Sky Championships and the women finished in fourth. Montana State advanced nine student-athletes to the NCAA regional meet with one student-athlete competing at the NCAA Championships.
