Bales to be a Bobcat

Montana State Track and Field announced the signing of Anna Bales to a national letter of intent to continue her academic and athlete career with the Bobcats beginning in the fall of 2011.

Bales comes to Bozeman from Cody, Wyoming. She will graduate from Cody High School this spring after an impressive pole vaulting career for the Fillies. At the Wyoming State Indoor Track and Field Championships, she finished second in the pole vault as a freshman and sophomore and third as a senior. At the outdoor meet, she was the runner-up her freshman and sophomore years and was the state champion as a junior.

She also runs the 100 meter dash, the 200 and is a part of the Filly relay teams. Her personal record in the pole vault is 12-00.00 which she accomplished in both her junior and sophomore seasons.

“Anna will be a welcome addition to the pole vault,” said assistant coach Tom Eitel. “She has great speed and is tremendously coachable.”

Bales currently boasts a 3.96 grade point average and plans on majoring in psychology at MSU.
