The Big Sky Conference announced that Amanda Murphy has been named the Big Sky Field Athlete of the Week.

Murphy earned the honors after an impressive showing at the Cat-Griz Dual on April 23. The Charlo, Mont. native earned two gold medals in Missoula with wins in the hammer throw (57.14m) and the shot put (13.98m). In the hammer throw, she finished seven meters ahead of the competition.

Murphy has automatic qualifying distances in both events to earn a berth to the 2011 Big Sky Track and Field Championships being held May 11-14 in Sacramento, Calif.
