Men's Track Tabs Two More

Montana State Track and Field announced the signing of two more student-athletes to National Letters of Intent to continue their academic and athletic careers at MSU beginning this fall.

Zachary Sharp will join the Bobcat throws corps. He is a 2011 graduate of Billings West High School. Most recently, he placed third in the Discus at the 2010 Montana Class AA State Championships. His personal best in the Discus is 166-07.00 and 49-03.00 in the Shot Put.

Sharp also played football for the Golden Bears. He plans to major in Wildlife Biology.

“Zach's throws ability will add depth to our squad,” said assistant coach Mike Carignan. “He has the kind of drive and attitude that will truly make him successful as a Bobcat.”

Joining Sharp in the Blue and Gold this fall is Grant Grosvenor. Grosvenor comes to Bozeman from Mill Creek, Wash. where he is a middle distance and cross country standout for Jackson High School.

He will head to Bozeman after a very successful prep athletic career. Grosvenor was the Western Conference (WesCo) and district champion in the 800 Meter Run and 1,600 Meter Run in 2010 and finished fourth in the 800 at the Washington 4A State Championships. He holds the record at Jackson in the 800, as well.

Grosvenor's best marks include 1:53.58 (800), 4:18.21 (Mile) and 48.5 (400). He plans on majoring in business. Grosvenor will participate in both cross country and track and field for MSU.

“Grant will be a great addition for our team,” said head coach Dale Kennedy. “He has the potential to set up our Distance Medley Relay to be a national contender and he will make a big impact as a contributor to the 800 and the Mile.”
