Montana high school track and field athletes recorded several personal bests during meets held April 27-May 1.
Devyn Smith (C M Russell, Great Falls) ran 11.46 in the boys' 100 meters at the Golden Triangle GF Area Meet on April 28, dropping nearly a full second from his previous best of 12.39 set in May 2025. The sophomore ranks #78 in Montana and #7 among sophomores statewide, finishing 4th of 69 competitors.
Megan Fellenz (Capital, Helena) clocked 11:44.34 in the girls' 3200 meters at Top 10 on April 28, improving from her previous mark of 12:16.33. The performance moves her to #18 in the state rankings, with Fellenz placing 6th of 10 runners.
Cheyenne Herbert (Corvallis) won the girls' 3200 meters at the Sapphire Twilight Invitational on April 30 in 12:14.08, cutting 54 seconds from her previous best of 13:08.41 set in April 2026. The freshman ranks #40 statewide and #14 among freshmen.
JJ Lee (Granite, Philipsburg) set a school record in the boys' 200 meters with a time of 22.30 at the Corvallis JV Invitational on May 1, improving from his previous best of 23.62. Lee won the event and ranks #8 in Montana.
Keegan Skogas (Fairview) threw 147-4 in the boys' discus at the Baker Invitational on April 28, adding over 14 feet to his previous best of 133-0. The mark places him #15 statewide, with Skogas finishing 2nd of 51 throwers.
Ginger Bergland (Whitefish) broke the school record in the girls' 100-meter hurdles with a time of 15.09 at Top 10 on April 28, improving from 15.63. The sophomore ranks #4 in Montana and #1 among sophomores, placing 3rd of 10 hurdlers. Bergland also set a personal best of 44.66 in the 300-meter hurdles, improving from 45.79.
Shayna Brooks (Custer Co District, Miles City) ran 27.03 in the girls' 200 meters at the John Polich Invite-Rescheduled on April 29, cutting .85 seconds from her previous best of 27.88 set in April 2026. The sophomore ranks #46 in Montana and #12 among sophomores, finishing 3rd of 11 runners.
