Track and Field to host MSU Dual Invitational

Montana State Track and Field will host the MSU Dual Meet Invitational on Friday, Feb. 4 at Worthington Arena. The double dual meet will include Montana State, Idaho State and the University of Montana and is scheduled to begin at 4:30 p.m.

Friday's meet is the first of three consecutive home meets for the Bobcats. Next week (Feb. 11), MSU will host the Bozeman Running Company Invitational and the Bobcat Open on Feb. 18.
Coming into the MSU Dual Invite, the Bobcats have 27 Big Sky Conference (BSC) Championships qualifiers. The men have garnered 14 qualifiers, while the women have 13. Sophomore Patrick Casey and freshman Jeff Mohl led the Bobcats with qualifications in three events apiece. Casey is qualified in the 800, the Mile and the 3000 while Mohl is ready in the High Jump, Pole Vault and Heptathlon. Casey is currently ranked ninth in the nation in the Mile and will compete in that event on Friday. Mohl is slated to contend in the 55 Meter Hurdles, the Long Jump, Pole Vault and the High Jump.
For the women Camille Marchand and Heather Haug have two qualifying performances each. Marchand will compete in the 60 Meter Dash and the 200 at Conference Championships. The Pocatello, Idaho, native is ranked third in both events in the BSC. Marchand is competing in the 55 and the 200 in Friday's double dual meet.
Haug has qualified in the Mile and 3000 Meter Run and is ranked second in the BSC in the Mile and fourth in the 3000.
"We're halfway through the indoor season and individuals are still looking to get their qualifiers," said head coach Dale Kennedy. "In this meet, however, competiting well in the duals is a big focus."
The Bobcats are poised to be competitive amongst the Bengals and The Griz. Coming into the meet, the MSU men have the edge over both Idaho State and Montana. The Blue and Gold women will look to continue their steady improvement and push to earn two dual victories.
