The Montana State men's and women's cross country teams have doled out their awards for the 2010 season.

Junior Patrick Casey won the men's Top Gun award, given to the runner who scores the most points throughout the fall. Casey (Laurel) was MSU's top runner all season and garnered All Big Sky Conference honors placing third overall at the league championship, guiding the Bobcats to a second place team finish.

In addition, he was MSU's sole representative at the NCAA Cross Country Championships, where he placed 144th overall.

Heather Haug (Livingston) wound up as Montana State's No. 1 runner by the end of the season and ended with a 1.8 power ranking to garner the women's Top Gun honor. Haug finished 16th at the Big Sky meet in a time of 16:31.

Dan Jackson (Bozeman) was named the most improved men's runner. Jackson improved his Big Sky Conference showing by 13 spots. He finished 27th overall as a junior, and crossed the line this season 14th overall.

Rebecca Sorenson (Cloquet, MN) also improved her showing from the 2009 season to the 2010 campaign. Sorenson finished 20th this fall, after posting a 39th place showing two years ago.

“All four of these athletes had solid seasons and are certainly worthy of these honors,” Kennedy said.
