MSU Track & Field Signs Three Prep Athletes Including State AA Sprint Champ

Montana State track and field coach Dale Kennedy announced the signing of three prep athletes to national letters of intent. The group includes one sprinter and two throwers.

Gage Pickering, who ran his prep career at Billings Skyview, will come to MSU as the reigning state AA champ in the 100 and 200-meter sprints. Pickering, who plans to major in biochemistry at MSU, will be able to make an immediate impact in the Bobcat sprint corps. Pickering also ran on the two championship relay teams for Skyview at the state meet.

"We are really excited to have Gage coming," Kennedy said. "Here is a young man who wasn't on our radar as a junior, but he really came on as a senior and became the top sprinter in the state."

Throws coach Mike Carignan announced the signing of Jasmine Crum, a javelin thrower from Gonzaga Prep High School. Crum hails from Veradale, Washington and plans to major in photography at MSU.

Carignan also signed Jessica Morin, a javelin thrower from CMR High School in Great Falls. She placed third in the javelin at this year's state AA meet. She was all-state in volleyball in 2010, academic all-state, and lettered in basketball.  She plans on majoring in horticulture with a business minor.
