Matt Adams Receives Academic All-America Honor

Montana State track and field distance runner Matt Adams received third team ESPN the Magazine Academic All-America track and field honors as announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). 

Matt Adams  became eligible for the award after receiving first team honors of the same award in District VII in the University Division.

Adams graduated in May with a degree in Environmental Sciences and has completed his track and field and cross country eligibility at MSU. He had a 4.0 grade point average this semester.

"Matt has continued in the excellent tradition of academic achievement that our track and field kids aspire to," head coach Dale Kennedy said. "His accomplishments are well deserved. He works extremely hard to suceed in running and in the classroom."

Adams was an all-conference selection in cross country and in track and field in the steeple chase. He recently competed in the NCAA West Preliminary and just missed qualifying for the national meet by less than a second. 

He  marks the third consectuive All-American for Kennedy's track and field programs. Bozeman native Elisabeth Driscoll garnered the status two years in a row in 2008 and 2009.

Northern Arizona distance runner David McNeil was the top vote getter in All America honors on the men's side in the University division. McNeil is an exercise science major with a 3.75 GPA.
