Track and Field Signs Prep Thrower From Washington

Montana State track and field throws coach Mike Carignan announced the signing of Will Rockett of Raymond, Washington to a national letter of intent.

Rockett threw both shot and discus for Willapa Valley High School. He placed second at the Washington state 2B in both shot and discus in 2009. He also played football and basketball in high school.

“We're excited to have Will coming to MSU,” Carignan said. “He's a perfect fit for our program.”

His father, Bob Rockett, was a four-time NCAA All American in the javelin throw for the University of Washington 1983-1987, and he still holds the school record at Willapa Valley in the discus. Rockett plans on majoring in engineering at MSU.
