More All-Conference Honors For Bobcats

Two Bobcats won conference championships late Friday at the Big Sky Conference meet in Bozeman. Amanda Murphy won the women's shot put with a throw of 47'11.25" while Nick Atwood sprinted the last two laps of the men's 5000 to score a victory over NAU's Ahmed Osman. Atwood's time of 14:40.33 won the race.

"Just the way Nick tactically ran that race was a shock to me," head coach Dale Kennedy said. "He ran with his head first and then with his heart, which was the way he should run. He was really helped by teammate Matt Adams who went out and set the early pace."

Kennedy also had praise for women's sprinters Camille Marchand and Olivia Rider who both made the finals in the women's 200. Marchand is also in the top four for the final in the 55.

Kennedy mentioned that the scoring of 12 points in the men's throw, which was the first event of the day, got the team fired up.

"We had thought we might score eight in that event and ended up with 12," Kennedy said. "I think that got both our men's and women's teams fired up."

Bobby Biskupiak placed third for all-conference honors in the men's pole vault. Biskupiak jumped 16'0, about six inches short of his season best in the event.  Kris Schaffer scored all-conference honors in the women's shot put with a toss of 47'3.75".
