Ronald Brookins of Sacramento State jumped a personal best in the long jump to win the event at the Big Sky Conference Indoor Track Championships in Bozeman Friday with a leap of 24'5.75” . Sergio Jones of Idaho State was second at 23'4.75” followed by Asa Staven of Montana State at 23'4”. Staven came into the event rated tenth in the conference.
“I'm glad I got going in the long jump,” Staven said. “I was kind of disappointed with how I jumped this morning and I'm really happy to have a medal.”
Staven is in contention for the gold medal in the men's heptathlon which concludes on Saturday.
