Gains, Gains, Gains! Jakobe Ford Rocks LJ at Simplot Games

Known for his prolific high jumping ability, Spokane Shadle Park High senior Jakobe Ford likely didn't expect massive gains in the long jump at the Simplot Games in Pocatello, Idaho on Saturday.

But that's exactly what happened.

Ford, who won the high jump in a height of 6 feet, 9 inches -- three inches shy of his indoor best (7-0.25) last Sunday at the University of Washington Indoor Open -- went full beast mode in the long jump, nailing an attempt of 23-8 to win the event.

It was good for US #6 and gave Ford a PR of over a foot -- his last attempt came at the UW High School Invitational two weeks ago in 22-7.75.

Ford is likely headed for great things this outdoor season in Washington. Watch out for the big man from Spokane.
